Research Experience Week

Laboratory Based Work
experience for 6th Formers
Following the success of previous
practicals, London IDEAS will be offering a laboratory based work experience
practical in July 2006. This will be the final year that
the practical runs. The course aims to give a taster of genetics research
and an insight into applications of molecular genetics including clinical
and forensic applications. The course is open to 6th form students in
the London area, currently doing AS levels.
The course will be held in Institute
of Education laboratories based in Central London. The
course is free of charge , but students are expected
to meet their own travel and lunch costs. Non-attendance, without
a medical certificate, will result in the student’s institution being
invoiced for the full cost of the course.
Dates
The course will run from 9.30am-
4.30pm on the following days: Monday 10th, Tuesday 11th,
Thursday 13 th & Friday 14th July 2006.

You should include your name, age,
full school address, subjects you are studying, and what you hope to do
after your A levels. All applications must be
accompanied by a letter of recommendation from your head teacher or head
of year. The letter of recommendation must confirm that
you can attend for the full course. Your application will not
be considered without a letter of recommendation .
We are limited to a maximum of 20 students . Applications
will be dealt with and places allocated in order of arrival. Depending on
demand we may limit the number of students to 2 per institution. Successful
applicants can expect to hear from us in early June.
