The role of the network is overviewed in the Department of Health genetics White Paper. London IDEAS was a consortium of University College London, the Institute of Child Health, Imperial College London, the medical schools at St. George’s and UCL Hospitals, NHS partners at Northwick Park and Great Ormond Street Hospitals, and the Genetic Interest Group. Although the initial funding has ended, the framework of organisations continues and it will continue to support many of the London IDEAS initiatives into the future. The London IDEAS grant ran from 1 August 2002 to 31 July 2007 (with an additional 6 months to wrap-up final spending plans). The other genetics knowledge parks in the network are:
